Increased Statutory Holiday Entitlement
There are draft regulations in place which are due for implementation on 1 October 2007 which increase employees’ holiday entitlement from this date. The proposal is to increase the statutory paid holiday entitlement to 28 days; this includes the eight Bank Holidays in Great Britain.
The additional holiday entitlement will be phased in and calculations depend upon the employer’s holiday year. The DTI website has a ready reckoner which can be found at:
